Hello! I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Linguistics at UC Berkeley and a Linguistic Engineer at Meta.

My research is primarily in sociophonetics and phonology. I'm broadly interested in:
  • How groups understudied in the literature (Andalusians, southern Spain; the Lobi and Tonko Limba, West Africa) and often-relegated aspects of social identity (sexuality, gender normativity) can inform:
    • Our approaches to sociophonetic theories and methodologies
    • The role of variation in formal phonology
    • How we conceptualize the interfaces between phonetics and other subfields
  • Developing and comparing automatic phonetic methods, particularly for capturing fricative place and vowels as dynamic events

My advisor is Keith Johnson.

I'm also a trained vocalist always interested in opportunities to make music collaboratively.
